Experts Exchange is evolving…

For those of you who know me well, you know that I’m a geek. 🙂 I like to help other geeks (and non-geeks) when I can, so I participate with/on a site/service/tool called Experts Exchange. Well, they’re in the process of revamping how they provide their services, and it looks like it’s going to be HOT.

Blockbuster Express, you officially suck starting Nov. 8th…

I finally took the time to read this email from Blockbuster Express… and what it’s telling me is that unless I want to rent an old and dusty DVD (which in 99.9999% of all cases I don’t)  I might as well get my movies on Pay-Per-View?!?

#EpicFail. #YouJustRemovedAllIncentiveForDealingWithTheKiosk. #YourSelectionWasPoorAtBestAnyway.

” BLOCKBUSTER Express will launch an easy, $3-$2-$1 pricing structure on November 8, 2011:

For the first 28 days, new releases on DVD (our Hot Movies) will be $3 plus applicable tax. After 28 days, Recent Releases on DVD will be $2 plus applicable tax for the initial night. After 90 days all movies on DVD will be $1 plus applicable tax for the initial night.

Hot Movies and Recent Releases carry our In-Stock Guarantee.

Additional nights are only $1 plus applicable tax – even for Hot Movies, Recent Releases and Blu-ray movies.

For movies on Blu-ray, simply add $1 plus applicable tax to the first night’s rental charge.

With our $3-$2-$1 pricing structure, we are able to bring you the latest releases, with our In Stock Guarantee, as well as offer hundreds of movies for only $1.

When you want a new release, we’ve got the movie you’re looking for. Our Hot Movies and Recent Releases carry our In-Stock Guarantee. So, if that movie is out of stock when you want it, you’ll find instructions on the movie detail page on how to text us for a promo code for a discount off another rental.

Remember, we’ve still got hundreds of movies for $1. Sign-up for an online account at http://www.blockbusterexpress.com to get a $1 movie night on us.”

Seeing as how I didn’t buy my expensive TV and Blu-Ray player to play DVDs I believe that, for 99.9999% of all cases, you just lost a previously ridiculously loyal customer. Way to go guys!
